How to care for an embroidered ski mask

A HOODLUMROUGE ski mask is one-of-a-kind: it can't be replaced. A few simple habits are enough to keep the knit soft and the embroidery intact for years.

General advice for hand-embroidered knit (orlon, acrylic, cotton, silk). TO BE COMPLETED

Hand wash, cold

  • Wash by hand in cold or lukewarm water (30 °C / 86 °F max), with a small amount of detergent for delicates.
  • Don't rub the embroidery: gently squeeze the ski mask in the water, without wringing it.
  • Rinse in clean water at the same temperature.
  • Avoid the washing machine: the drum pulls on the loose threads and can undo the stitches.

Dry flat

  • Roll the ski mask in a terry towel and press to soak up the water, without wringing.
  • Let it dry flat, reshaping it as you go, away from radiators and direct sun.
  • No tumble dryer: heat warps acrylic fibers and can shrink the cotton in the embroidery.

Storing and wearing

  • Store it folded rather than hung up, so the knit doesn't stretch.
  • If an embroidery thread pokes out, don't pull it: tuck it inside or get in touch.
  • Avoid long contact with rough surfaces (Velcro, jewelry) that snag the knit.

The box

Every piece comes in its own box. Those of Nº 3 and 7 are made of cardboard, wax, watercolor ink and silver. Watercolor ink reacts to water: keep the box dry, away from humidity, and avoid handling it with wet hands. The wax seal doesn't like heat.

Alterations or repairs

Alterations are possible, up to 3 rounds per piece. Write via the contact page and describe what needs fixing (a photo helps).

Frequently asked questions

Does an embroidered knit ski mask lose its shape?

Knit stretches, but heavily embroidered areas stretch less: that's why measurements are discussed at the appointment. To keep its shape, wash it by hand and dry it flat — never hung up, never in the dryer (see the care guide).

How do I wash an embroidered ski mask?

By hand, in cold water, without rubbing the embroidery, then dry it flat. Every step is on the care guide page.
